  • Fire and Ice: which one first?

WHAT IS CONTRAST THERAPY? Contrast therapy is an age-old wellness practice of alternating between hot and cold temperatures. The history of contrast therapy dates back to ancient civilisations in Greece and Rome, where hot and cold baths were used to treat various health conditions. In the 19th century, contrast therapy was utilised as a modern therapeutic method and it was widely used in hydrotherapy treatments. In recent times, contrast therapy has become popular amongst the athlete community, especially to reduce inflammation, boost recovery and reduce pain. Because it involves alternating exposures of a few minutes in the sauna followed by a dip in the ice bath, it certainly gives one the sensation of going from fire to ice. BENEFITS The primary goal of contrast therapy is to improve circulation and reduce inflammation. The hot phase causes blood vessels to dilate (expand), increasing blood flow to the area. This can help relax muscles and alleviate muscle stiffness. The cold phase, on the other hand, causes blood vessels to constrict (narrow), which can reduce swelling and inflammation. HOT OR COLD FIRST? Using a sauna is encouraged as both hot and cold work on similar pathways. Nordic cultures have done this for millennia. However, the evidence for maximising the metabolic benefits suggests starting in the hot and ending in the cold, followed up by letting the body reheat naturally. The process of reheating naturally encourages the body to adapt, ending in a sauna will discourage this adaptation of our metabolism. Infrared saunas and ice baths are both great tools for recovery and overall health. Saunas have been shown to improve cardiovascular health, while ice baths have been shown to reduce muscle soreness and inflammation. Using them together as contrast therapy can have a powerful impact on the body's circulation and recovery. It's important to consult with a doctor or physical therapist before starting a contrast therapy routine, especially if you have any underlying health conditions. At ColdFire Recovery Rooms, contrast therapy is available for private sessions with the convenience of the ihealth infrared sauna & our Odin ice bath being in the same private room.

  • Your are our reason: Warwick's only social wellness club

Staying on track with fitness goals is a very personal journey and at Ironside Industry we want you to walk away strong, capable, and feeling positive about your own gains – both mentally and physically. SOCIAL WELLNESS IN 2024 Fitness in 2024 is not just about body building and weight loss, it is about holistically investing in body, mind and spirit. And, although we believe that excellent facilities and equipment are your right, we know that members are looking for a supportive environment where all levels of fitness are celebrated, and recovery is seen as an integral part of the journey. It's about being #strongerthanyesterday. Ironside Industry is more than a gym. It is the first social wellness club in Warwick. With its origins in Los Angeles, the concept of a social wellness club brings together the traditional powerlifting gym floor with cardio, gym classes, exercise physiologists, personal trainers, nutritional support, holistic therapies and recovery services including infrared sauna, compression boots, hydrotherapy, chromotherapy, contrast therapy, salt caves, hot yoga and ice baths. The concept is relatively new in Australia, and we are proud to be bringing it to life right here in Warwick on the Southern Downs. Whether you are training for a competition, meeting up with your personal trainer or just showing up for your own wellness goals, at Ironside Industry we want to foster human connection, which is a vital part of self-care. There is no judgement here – we have your back. HOW IT STARTED We started out with a desire to be different, to be bold and unforgiving, and our centre recently celebrated five years of providing the Southern Downs community with a safe, professional and world class 24-hour gym. When we found the historic Factory Precinct, it was aesthetically spot on for what we had in mind as a building. From the exposed brick and pipe work to the beams in the ceiling. It all told a story. It may not have been purpose built for a gym, but it was built for a purpose and tells a story of our community. Building a fitness business from the ground up has not been easy.  Ironside Industry came up against all sort of odds from ‘not another gym’ to ‘what’s so special about this gym?’ What was special at the time is that it was ours, it was and still is owner-operated and it is proudly locally owned. HOW IT WENT We forged ahead and laid the foundation for the gym of our dreams but within three months of opening, the pandemic surprised us all. We needed to pivot our business model to make ends meet and came up with the idea of hiring out equipment for those trapped at home under lockdowns. Thankfully we were still able to sell supplements to assist members in maintaining healthy lifestyles during one of the greatest health crises of our time. And, when the doors were finally allowed to open, the rules were very strict. It was only by the good graces of our very patient members and our team working split shifts that the gym could open for members at certain times. The pandemic allowed us to look at business differently and we started asking ‘what if we not only provided a great place to train, but also provide a space for recovery?’ HOW IT'S GOING As one of the first facilities to bring Sunlighten infrared sauna to Warwick, another round of exciting upgrades occurred in 2023 when we opened ColdFire Recovery Rooms and increased the footprint of the gym to allow for a much larger gym floor with targeted powerlifting, cardio, circuit and weight zones. 2024 promises to be another ripper of a year as we progress with new ideas and welcome new members to our team. We hope you will come along for the ride! FAQ's

  • Float away your cares at ColdFire Recovery Rooms

A great work out goes hand-in-hand with considered recovery time. Although the effort, skill and dedication invested into your workout matters, what you do after working out matters just as much if not more. ColdFire Recovery Rooms offers recovery and restoration treatments for everybody - not just elite athletes, and float therapy is about to become your new best friend. Whether we realise it or not, our bodies are impacted daily by noise pollution, our lifestyle choices and stress. How we deal with these impacts is critical in determining our long-term health. It can be extremely difficult to unplug from the world to make time for recovery, especially if that time is further impacted by hours on the road to reach similar services in Toowoomba or Brisbane. Enter ColdFire Recovery Rooms. Located within the main gym at Ironside Industry in Warwick, it is a recovery zone for all members of the Southern Downs community, with all services being open to non-members too. As we head into each new season of our lives (and of the weather cycle) it is easy to rush toward a new lifestyle change that may not be sustainable. Instead, why not gift yourself a slight pause to reconnect and recover from the life's demands on your bod. Float therapy offers exactly this sensory pause our bodies need. Our DreamPod float tank is the most advanced and competitive Isolation Pod in the Market and promotes total mental and physical recovery by transporting you a stress-free sanctuary. The goal of float therapy is to calm the mind and the body. REST is at the root of floatation therapy’s efficacy. It stands for “Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy.” Float therapy involves “floating” in a water-filled sensory deprivation tank, also called a floatation tank or isolation tank. The water is heated to match the temperature of the human body and is saturated with 450 kgs of Epsom salt, which gives the water buoyancy, allowing you to float effortlessly. Studies have shown that during float therapy, you become more aware of your breath and heartbeat, and your ability to control them. This helps you relax, which reduces anxiety, blood pressure, and heart rate. Benefits of Float Therapy include: ✅ Decreased stress & anxiety ✅ Improved sleep quality ✅ Reduced inflammation ✅ Improved mood and boosted mindfulness ✅ Pain management support Book now
